  1. The spring loaded pliers work very well. They hold the ring(s) well and crimp with little effort. Smaller rings must be found from a different source.

  2. Yes, they cost more than the ones you can buy at Rural King or the local hardware.

    We use a fair number of hog rings in connection with small sailboats — mostly 1/4″ to 1/2″ size in stainless. Those cheaper ones are just too big for the small hog rings and you can’t get a good “squeeze” or crimp. These are perfect for the smaller rings.
