Tools are meant to be useful, and the Gerber Recoil is very useful. In one tool you get :

* Needlenose Pliers
* Gerber Knife
* Fiskars Scissors
* Phillips and Slotted Screwdrivers
* Wire Strippers
* Twine and String Cutter
* Bottle Opener
* Can Opener
* Wire Cutter

And you get them in a very rugged, very well made package. Rarely do I ever give anything five stars, but this multi-tool deserves more than that.

I have used to the Recoil's _knife_ to cut wire with no dings, dents, or dulling. Now that is a knife. The scissors are on the small side, but they are razor sharp, and will easily cut multiple sheets of paper. The wire-cutters will go through wire like it isn't even there.

This multi-tool just plain works, with no squeaks, rattles, or flexing. This is not a cheaply made multi-tool. And here is the best part - every tool locks in the open position. You just cannot get them to release until you pull back the release button on the handles. Once open, they _stay_ open no matter what you do, or what you are working on.

And come on... be honest, guys. Having a set of "switchblade" pliers is cool beyond belief. When the other guys are dinking with their multi-tools, you just press a button and _everyone_ hears that metallic "snikt" that remind you so much of the slide on a .45 driving home. It turns heads, and though they won't say it, _every_ guy is now jealous of you.

It has heft in the palm of your hand - it feels right. It's solid. It exudes quality. Sure, you could spend more and get a lesser tool, but nothing you can put on your belt (it includes a nylon sheath) will give you better service, or work as well as the Gerber Recoil.

And here is the kicker - according to my packaging Gerber stands behind this baby with a lifetime guarantee. So buy the Gerber Recoil and you will not be disappointed. Use it. Try to abuse it. It will just soak it all up and at the end of day be asking if that is all you got.

It is that good.

I am a traveling performer. I work outside and in odd locations very often, and I can't count how many times I've been glad this tool was on my belt. I've cut through kevlar cord countless times to repair fire-eating torches, tightened screws to repair my prop box and bed of nails, and used the pliers to do everything from loosen bolts on my broken-down van to pulling splinters out of a female acrobat's hand from a freshly-built wooden stage.

I never go anywhere without my gerber tool.

My one complaint is that it takes quite a bit of force to push the pliers back into the casing. I can usually push them in on the floor, but it can be difficult.

My son wanted this specific multi-tool. He is very happy with it--he likes the tools offered on it and the way it "springs" out. My older son doesn't care for it because you need to use both hands to close it--he prefers another model. Was a gift and my son is very happy with it!

My son, the fire fighter/paramedic, was delighted to get this tool! I think anyone who might need a multitool would like this one.

The knife blade broke on my last Gerber, they were going replace the blade at no charge but I lost it before I could send it back. I then purchased this. I am very pleased with it's performance.
