This is a FANTASTIC tool!! I am a professional firefighter and was in need of a multi-tool. I had a Gerber in the past but I had lost in on a call and I was in the market for a replacement. This one was by far the best option, with one-hand opening and replacement carbide cutters I am sure to get years of use out of it. It opens easily, the tools open up with little effort and the cutters are sharp. Not to mention, the all black finish just makes it look great.
I ordered the black coated version. The black coating made my hands black after handling it for just a couple minutes.
The pliers are hard to open even with 2 hands. You have to put no tension on the handles, then depress the 2 center buttons and slide the pliers out. Unlike other multitool pliers, the handles completly close when the jaws close. There is no self opening of the pliers, and you can’t keep a finger in between the handles to open them. Did I mention this thing is an endless supply of black junk that rubs off on your hands? Every time you touch it , more black junk on your hands. I have washed my hands and there is still some junk on them.
I have a Leatherman blast and a Swisstool multitool. Same price range and there is no comparison in quality, useability etc.
Sent my Gerber back. What a disappointment. Thanks Amazon for having a decent return policy.
