I have used Channel Lock brand silp joint pliers for many many years. About four years ago I needed another 12″ one and just happened on Crescent’s 12″, selling for about the same as Channel Lock. When I picked them up, there was no comparison. Crescent was beefier, it just fit my hand better. When I used it on jobs, it performed noticeably better. But as things go, my Crescent grew legs and walked away last week. I had to do some searching to find one though. I bought the original at one of the big box stores, but they no longer carry them in 12″. Thanks Amazon for saving my bacon.
