I am so glad that I happened across these pliers. I’ve been working on a demolition/reconstruction project for a few weeks now and my hands are rather torn up, plus I have bad arthritis in my hands. Even without the hand soreness from the various cuts that one accumulates on such a project, the arthritis can sometimes severely restrict my hand strength.
I originally bought these pliers because of the thick rubber grips and didn’t pay much attention to the claims of significantly increased cutting power. The grips are great. They are comfortable and easy on the hands, much better than the usual thin rubber grips or bare metal that are on normal pliers of this type. Then yesterday I was trying to cut some 12 gauge copper indoor house wire with my old lineman sidecut pliers and couldn’t cut the cable. So, I grabbed the new Crescent Pro long nose pliers and gave it another try. I was able to easily cut the cable. I don’t know how they do it, but these pliers sure seem to have more cutting power. I was so pleased that today, I bought 2 of each of their Pro pliers, the long nose, lineman and diagonal cut that they have available. I’m throwing all of my old cutting pliers under the work bench. I won’t throw them away, because some of them are in like new condition, but I’ll only use them in easy circumstances and for loaning out to people.
The other nice thing about these pliers is that they all are spring loaded to open and have a latch to keep them closed. So you don’t have to fuss with opening the pliers in awkward positions. All in all, they’re the best pliers I’ve ever used. Case closed for me.
